Grade Frequently Asked Questions

 

What should a student do if he/she thinks a grade on the grade report is not correct?

The student should see the instructor, who will send a Grade Change Report form to Academic Records, Campus Box 2202, if an error was made. If the instructor is no longer employed at Illinois State, the student should contact that department chairperson for assistance. The completed Grade Change Report is forwarded to Academic Records for processing. If after three weeks the student has not received confirmation of the grade change, the student should call Academic Records (309) 438-8499.

What should a student do who wants to know how to project his/her grade-point average?

The student should review the Grade Point Average section in the Undergraduate Catalog. If necessary, the student may request assistance from his/her major department advisor, or upon presentation of identification, the student may ask for assistance from his or her advisor or contact staff in Records at 438-2198.

Students can also use the GPA calculator in the iCampus Portal.

What is the Grade Distribution Policy?

Final Grades

Beginning with the Fall 2003 semester, the Office of the University Registrar will discontinue mailing final grade reports to graduate and undergraduate students with the following exceptions:

  • students enrolled in extension courses;
  • All other students who requested a hard copy (paper) final grade report through the iCampus Portal by posted deadline.

Academic Progress Summery (APA) grade can be viewed on the iCampus Portal for 100 level classes.

An instructor is submitting a grade change for one of my classes. How can I check to see if it has been done yet?

Once grade changes are made, the student may view them directly on the iCampus Portal. If the anticipated grade change is not showing, the student may contact the Records Office at (309) 438-2198 to find out if the change is in process.

Why haven’t I received my final grades yet in the mail?

As of Fall 2003, the Office of the University Registrar has discontinued mailing final grade reports to graduate and undergraduate students except for those students enrolled in extension courses:

How can a student get a grade report?

Upon presentation of his/her identification at the Student Service & Referral Center, Moulton Hall, Room 107, a student may pick up a copy of the grade report. If the student is no longer in the area, the student must send a letter to Student Service & Referral Center, Campus Box 2202, Normal IL 61790-2202, stating the session that he/she never received grades, listing name, UID number, date of birth, copy of photo ID, signature, and address where the duplicate grade report is to be mailed.

How can my parents or others receive a copy of my grades?

A student may request that copies of Academic Progress Alert or final grades be mailed by completing the FERPA Waiver-Permission to Release Education Records form (Editable PDF 52KB). A new request must be completed each semester.
