To audit a course you must first register for that course. Then, download an Auditor Registration Form or pick one up at the Student Service & Referral Center (SSRC), 107 Moulton Hall. The slip must be signed by the instructor and returned by the student, with photo ID to the SSRC by the 10th day of class in the semester. The student may also place a course on audit during advanced registration.
Students will receive an e-mail sent to your Illinois State University address reminding you to check the iCampus Portal for your unique registration date and time.
Prior to registering, each student must (1) meet admission requirements and follow admission procedures, (2) complete the Worksheet and carefully read the instructions for using the iCampus Portal (3) review your catalog with your advisor to determine appropriate courses, (4) clear all non-monetary delinquencies (i.e.. Admissions, Health Services) through the appropriate office, and (5) clear all monetary delinquencies at the Student Accounts/Cashier's Office (corner of Kingsley and Dry Grove).
Students at Illinois State University register via the iCampus Portal. This system allows students to register faster and receive more accurate, up-to-date information.
Registration may be accomplished by utilizing the advance registration period or the residual registration period prior to the start of the semester. For advance registration, students will receive an e-mail sent to your Illinois State University address reminding you to check the iCampus Portal for your unique registration date and time. A student may register any time thereafter through the end of advance registration. Additional registration for the Fall Semester may be completed during the summer registration period or August registration period and for the Spring Semester during the December registration period or January registration period. Consult the online Registration Information for details.
The writing exam requirement will no longer be required for students graduating in August 2007 or later. Students who are currently enrolled in the writing exam for summer and beyond will be dropped from the course and will receive notification from the system that they have been dropped. This will also activate any necessary refunds.
Students who wish to withdraw from the University must obtain clearance from room and board and other financial obligations. Consult the catalog for responsibilities of students who withdraw from the University.
Students who must withdraw from the University do so by reporting in
person, with photo ID, or by letter to the Student Service & Referral
Center, Moulton Hall, Room 107, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday
through Friday. No grades are assigned to courses dropped during this
period.
After the tenth day of classes -- Students who must withdraw from the
University do so by first reporting in person, with photo ID, or by letter
to the Student Service & Referral Center, Moulton Hall, Room 107.
WX grades will be assigned.
Students who must withdraw from the University do so by first reporting
in person, with photo ID, or by letter to the Student Service & Referral
Center, Moulton Hall, Room 107. If the approval is granted, instructors
will assign a withdrawal grade (WX, WP, WF) for each full semester course
or short courses that are within their allowed withdrawal period. Short
courses that have not started will be dropped completely. If a student
has already completed a short course, that course must be graded, and
the student will be allowed withdrawal from their other courses with withdrawal
grades assigned by their instructions as above. However, since a grade
has been earned, this is not a university withdrawal, and there is no
reduction of tuition and fees billed for the semester.
Last Day for any student to withdraw from the University is the Friday
of the twelfth week of classes. In case of medical or other extenuating
circumstance(s) beyond the control of the student which would make withdrawal
in the regular way impossible, it is the student's responsibility to complete
the Request for Withdrawal from the University and include a letter that
identifies the medical or extenuating circumstance(s). This form may be
obtained from academic advisors, Graduate School, University College,
or the Office of the University Registrar (SSRC room 107 Moulton Hall)
or at its website. If medical or other reasons make it impossible for
the student to complete the form, then a letter requesting withdrawal
that explains the situation with appropriate verification and the student's
signature will be sufficient. Regardless of the circumstances of the withdrawal,
the student must obtain clearance from room and/or board obligations.
Any student withdrawing after the eligible refund dates is fully liable
for any unpaid amounts needed to conform with the Refund Policy.
A student may withdraw from a course during the program change period without the withdrawal being shown on the transcript. (A student should consult the Registration Information to obtain specific dates.)
After the tenth day of classes but prior to end of the eighth week of classes during any regular semester, a student may withdraw from a full semester course with a grade of WX upon complying with the following steps:
A grade of "F" will be given to students who (1) fail to officially withdraw from a course in compliance with the above procedure; or (2) register for a course but do not complete course requirements.
A student should consult the course/withdrawal calendar of the Registration Information for specific withdrawal dates. For courses taken during a term less than a regular semester, a proportional withdrawal period will apply.
Contact the Student Accounts office at 438-5643.
Students are required to confirm their intention to attend Illinois State for the upcoming session. Students may confirm their intentions in one of three ways which will all be available to students during the summer and throughout the months of May, November and December. They include:

Undergraduate students with more than 24 earned credit hours must have approval from their department chairperson for loads in excess of 17 hours. Hour overloads for students with 24 or fewer earned credit hours are approved in the Academic Advisement Center. The computer will not accept classes above the 17 hours undergraduate load for anyone who does not have this approval. Graduate students must have approval from the student's graduate advisor for loads in excess of 15 hours.
The Credit/No Credit (commonly called Pass/Fail) An undergraduate student (except a first-semester freshman) who is not on academic probation may choose to register in some courses under an option that allows the student to be graded on the basis of CT (credit) or NC (no credit) rather than on the basis of A, B, C, D, or F grades.
This CT/NC option is designed to encourage students to enroll in courses they otherwise would not take. Some courses, therefore, including those in a student's major or minor, may not be taken on the CT/NC option. Exceptions include courses in the student's major or minor field that are offered only as credit/no credit (CR/NC) courses. See catalog for additional details.
Students who have not met the required prerequisites will not be scheduled
for the course.
Many course sections have mandatory prerequisites which are listed in the current
undergraduate or graduate catalogs. Each student is responsible for meeting
the published prerequisites for each course requested. After each registration
period, departments may review the completion of prerequisites of registered
students. The academic units have the authority to administratively drop
a student from a course for which the student has not fulfilled the published
prerequisites.
